Judi’s Approach

Known for her love of colour, symmetry and detail, Judi likes to mix it up. From contemporary objects twinned with antiques or folk art combined with mid-century, she appreciates artisanal objects however small and seemingly mundane.
She understands that this can be the beginning of a design scheme; the kernel of an idea.

Quoting architect John Pawson who said “Something as modest as a fork can become a vehicle for much broader ideas about how we live and what we value.”
Her special interest is the older house with a story to tell. As a historian, she is inspired by the past and how that reverberates in our lives today and how we can bring an interior alive for modern living. She says, “To a certain extent, a house will tell you what to do if you look carefully. A sensitivity for your surroundings and the changes you make to them, is essential. After all, you are only the house custodian for a while, but ultimately the results of your decorating project must bring you joy, well-being and comfort. To this end, I believe in starting a project with what you already have in your home and above all, those things you love and that resonate for you.
Combining what is unique to you with my knowledge, experience and skill together will result in a space in which you feel alive and kicking!
I see interior design as a wonderful process of self expression.

Even just by the rejigging of furniture, adding the right lighting or the perfect wall colour, your space can be transformed. It can truly change your mood.
If you don’t know how to get there, then you need a fresh pair of experienced eyes! So a collaboration between client and designer can create something that is unique.
Today, in my new studio, I have set up a small personalised interior design practice, and I have many contacts with skilled creatives whom I can recommend to you.
Above all, I am concentrating on what I love best - bringing interiors alive with beautiful and enduring design.”
